SubChat Prime was built from the ground up on a zero-server-storage, client-side architecture. We do not operate proxy servers that log your prompts, we do not track your browsing history, and we will never sell, monetize, or transmit your personal data to third-party advertisers.
1. Overview and Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how SubChat Prime ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our browser extension and associated website (collectively, the "Service"). We believe that your privacy is a fundamental human right, particularly when interacting with artificial intelligence models and researching private information.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No Prompt or Chat Logging: Your questions, highlighted text selections, and AI replies are processed directly in your local browser sandbox. We never store them on external servers.
- No Browsing History: We do not track the URLs you visit, pages you view, or queries you search.
- No Cookie Storage: We do not intercept, extract, or transmit your session credentials or authentication cookies. Requests to your logged-in AI accounts (e.g., Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT) are executed directly via your browser’s native client TLS connection.
- No Keystroke Logging: We do not monitor your keyboard inputs except when you intentionally press our designated global hotkeys (Alt+S / Alt+G).
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
To ensure convenience and offline persistence, the extension stores a minimal amount of configuration data exclusively in your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local / IndexedDB):
- User Preferences: Your preferred default model, context mode selection, and theme settings.
- Encrypted API Keys (BYOK): If you choose to enter custom API keys (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini API), they are encrypted locally on your machine and only used to dispatch direct HTTPS API requests.
- Local Memory Vault (Web Mind): Any custom project rules or persona notes you save remain encrypted on your device and are never synchronized to external cloud databases.
4. Browser Permissions and Justifications
In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store policies, SubChat Prime requests only the minimum necessary permissions required to operate its single purpose:
activeTab/scripting: Used exclusively to detect highlighted text and display the non-blocking floating side-chat interface when triggered by the user.storage: Used to persist your local user settings, keyboard shortcuts, and encrypted local memory records.contextMenus: Used to provide the right-click "Ask SubChat about selection" convenience shortcut.

When you generate a side-chat response, your text prompt is transmitted directly to the respective AI provider you have selected (such as Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or OpenAI ChatGPT) over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The processing of that data is governed by the respective privacy policies of those providers:

SubChat Prime complies strictly with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use and User Data policies. We do not use user data for advertising, market research, or credit evaluations.
